Display Settings
Set familiar coordinate labels, map layers and point appearances.
Display settings help you read project information in the form you use on site. They change presentation, not the source coordinates or recording accuracy.
Choose coordinate conventions
- Open Settings → Display conventions.
- Tap Coordinate order to select Easting/Northing or Northing/Easting.
- Choose Alignment terminology: Chainage, Station or Meterage.
- Choose Alignment distance format: Plain, 100 or 1000.
- Choose Vertical terminology: Level or Elevation.
For example, chainage 1250 displays as 1250.000 in Plain, 12+50.000 in 100, or 1+250.000 in 1000 format. Enter calculation chainages as plain numbers even when results include a plus sign.
Choose a map appearance
Under Map display, select Standard, Satellite or Hybrid and choose which information is shown. The map’s layers icon provides quick visibility controls for points and alignment geometry.
Distinguish point categories
Open Point Display. Choose a symbol and colour separately for Survey points, Reference points and Alignment tangent points. The chosen appearance applies throughout VIA.
If a change seems ineffective
A hidden layer stays hidden even after its symbol changes. Check the map’s layer switches and loaded data. Display order does not rearrange CSV import columns or export schemas. Calling altitude “Level” or “Elevation” does not apply a height-datum correction.
